WILSON AREA SCHOOL-BASED HEALTH CENTERS (WASH)
The Wilson Area School-Based Health Center (WASH) advocates for the health of children and addresses a broad range of needs. The purpose is to provide accessible and affordable physical and preventive health services to adolescents. WASH is located at Forest Hills Middle School and Beddingfield High School and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for Wilson County Schools students attending those schools (and Wilson Academy of Applied Technology) and all staff. At WASH, parents can give consent for their child to be provided with health resources, so as not to impede on instructional time or time missed away from the classroom for appointments. The center includes a full time Registered Nurse, an Advanced Practice Provider and an Office Coordinator.
Students with health insurance or Medicaid coverage will be asked to provide information to allow for billing of medical services if they are seen at WASH. Students without insurance coverage will be billed on a sliding fee scale according to their household income and number of supported members in the household. The center can bill most commercial insurances and Medicaid. No sick student that has a signed consent form will be turned away for failure to pay or lack of insurance.
