Forest Hills Middle School

2025-2026 Title 1 Family Engagement Policy

 

This upcoming school year Forest Hills will be a Title 1 School. Our school will receive federal funding which will be used to obtain extra teachers, purchase materials, and training opportunities for staff and parents. We are dedicated to providing a quality education for our students and creating productive citizens who can compete in a global society. Forest Hills believes partnerships with parents and guardians will aid us in developing students who reach their full potential as responsible and productive members of society. In order to foster these partnerships, parent involvement activities will be ongoing and reviewed by parents. In order for our goals to be realized the school has established the following practices:

  • Respecting all parents/guardians as true partners in the education of their child(ren) and honoring them as the first and life-long teachers of their child(ren).
  • Fostering a warm, welcoming, and responsive environment for all parents/guardians.
  • Holding expectations for excellent customer service and ensuring satisfaction for all parents/guardians and students.
  • Providing learning and leadership opportunities for parents.
  • Communicating with parents routinely, in the planning, review, and improvement of the school to foster trust and understanding.
  • Expecting high student achievement for and of all students.
  • Nurturing student-focused partnerships between parents and teachers.
  • Make an effort as a school to involve all parents.
 

At Forest Hills Middle School we expect our parents/guardians to be supportive and involved by:

  • Respecting the staff at Forest Hills Middle.
  • Fostering an environment in which their children succeed through both physical and emotional support
  • Staying involved in all aspects of the school.
  • Ensuring that the curriculum is meeting the needs of their child.
  • Preparing an environment in the home in which their child can accomplish the goals necessary for learning.
  • Participating in site-based leadership and decision making opportunities.
  • Communicating routinely with the school and trusting in the process and understanding that through collaboration, respect, and trust all challenges can be resolved
 

Opportunities for Parent Engagement

The Forest Hills Middle School administration and staff encourage parent involvement by providing a variety of opportunities for parents and guardians to be informed, communicate with staff, and be active partners in the education of their child(ren).

Forest Hills Middle School will provide the following opportunities for clear two-way communication of events, activities, and /or student academic progress using:

Forest Hills Middle will provide the following opportunities for active parent/guardian involvement during special events and daily school activities:

  • Open House/Title 1 Night
  • PTO Programs/Events
  • Parent/Teacher Conferences
  • Curriculum Nights/Cultural Night
  • Grade Level Celebrations
  • Book Fair
  • Fall Festival 
  • Holiday Haircuts (December)

Parent/Guardian input is important to us. Parents and guardians can be part of the decision making process through the following opportunities:
